TERMS & CONDITIONS
The terms “Provider” and “Doctor” are interchangeable.
‘ONLINE COUNSELLING’ IS:
AN ALTERNATIVE WAY TO RELATE TO & COMMUNICATE WITH CLIENTS, IN RELATIVE
ANONYMITY, USING A COMPUTER OR TELEPHONE; MAY BE EMAIL OR SKYPE.
PERSONAL CONTACT WITH THE SAME FEES & TIME PERIODS AS THE ONLINE SESSIONS, NOT NECESSARILY IN AN OFFICE BUT NOT A CUSTOM SERVICE.
‘CUSTOM SERVICES’ ARE:
THOSE THAT TAKE PLACE IN BUSINESS SETTINGS, AT RETREATS, AS A COMPANIONSHIP SERVICE, MAY COVER EXTENDED PERIODS & WEEKENDS.
Online Appointment Hours (see Contact & Booking Pages):
Local Jamaican time Mondays, 2pm-5 (50 min apts.)/5.30pm (20 min apts.) or Fridays, 10am-1 (50 min. apts.)/1.30pm (20 min. apts.). (EST plus 1 hr for Day Light Saving (DST) or GMT, add 5 hours plus 1 hr for DST). See “The Process” below.
US$65 per 50 mins, US$35 per 20 mins for online real time or face-to-face sessions. US$35.00 for client’s email of 1000 words and US$65.00 for client’s emails of between 1000-2000 words. Custom Services attract specifically tailored fees. Re online services: should a written assessment/referral of the case ever be required, there will be an additional charge of US$10.00 for this service for which a PayPal invoice/payment request is utilised.
FOR CONVENIENCE, SESSIONS LAST 20 MINS. AND 50MINS. BUT A BOOKING SLOT IS 30 MINS. OR 60 MINS. IN CASE OF REAL TIME ONLINE RUN OVER, LATENESS & OTHER DOCTOR/CLIENT ADMIN. ISSUES.
Any fee changes will be announced at least 1 month in advance of date of change and all appointments booked previous to that date will be charged at old rate and appointments booked after date of change will be charged at new rate; custom rates available on request .
All payments are final except for custom charges (see custom cancellation procedure below). Credit to next appointment if appointment missed by provider. Provider also undertakes no financial liability for any Act of God interrupting scheduled service, including computer failure and power outage. As far as possible, a client’s time will be re-scheduled in such event.
Cancellation: Custom Services and those requiring travel:
2 weeks or more in advance:
For card payment, refund 50% custom fees less gateway chargeback fee.
For Paypal payment, refund 50% of custom fees less fixed fee
Less than 2 weeks:
Under no circumstances will Provider undertake travel & expense chargebacks or refunds re custom arrangements, once paid. These funds are subject to 3rd party policy of the entity to which they have been directly paid as per “The Process” below. Chargebacks and refunds will be done via Paypal.
The Process (Basics)
1) Via message boxes on Contact or Book Online pages or firstname.lastname@example.org; a short explanation of complaint is formulated and a statement made about whether online, face-to-face or custom tailored services are required. Skype should not be used for 1st contact.
2) Provider replies via phone or email within 48 hours (free of charge) with decision on whether case warrants a face-to-face visit or can be handled entirely online or whether available for custom services.
3) Book online session or face-to-face visit 1 week in advance or custom tailored services 1 month in advance. First online appointment must be 50 min. charge. Future real time online appointments may be a 20 min. charge. Regular emailers also make an ‘appointment’ for the purposes of fee assessment. A word counter should be used for regular emails. Doctor’s reponse has no count limits. It will be returned same Monday or Friday of client’s appointment.
Clients will receive a payment request and, once paid, your payment and Paypal reference number will be logged in. Regarding custom services; an invoice/payment request for services only will be issued and client will be responsible for payment, directly to 3rd party, (also latest 1 month in advance), of any mutually acceptable expenses and fares, should travel be required.
NB All face-to-face visits will be house calls or mutually acceptable neutral zone (prepaid and pre-arranged if travel to meet required.)
1st online real time or face-to-face sessions entail explanations and assessment given/performed by Provider. If acceptable to both, begin sessions on a 2/week, weekly, fortnightlyor monthly basis or any combination of the latter. Clients always free to discontinue relationship at any time. At discretion of provider and depending on the case, counselling arrangements may range anywhere between sessions conducted entirely online via Skype or regular emails, at one end of the scale, and a high personal contact scheme in which the 1st interview is conducted face-to-face with as frequent as 3-monthly live meetings required and online counselling in between up to twice/week, at the other end of the scale.
Continue with appropriate combination of session formats as long as client satisfied (s)he is making progress and/or at the doctor’s discretion. Referrals may be warranted and suggessted.

Information and all doctor/client interaction via OnlineCounsellingJamaica are subject to the usual legal structures of the governing medical bodies named on the Contact page and on this page and the relevant Acts concerning protection of doctor/client relationships. Security of Personal Information
OnlineCounsellingJamaica never exchanges our customer names and addresses with any other 3rd party. We endeavor to ensure the security of personal information and to protect against any loss or misuse of any such information while in our care. The Skype engine has built-in security but there are always the trade-off risks of electronic communication vs. its convenience.
If you have subscribed to Skype you are protected by their security policy and may choose to delete or keep your written information to the doctor and direct the doctor to do the same. It is a cloud facility and written information shared via Skype on either the provider’s or client’s computer cannot be stored on or leave an electronic footprint on either hard-drive if erased. A client’s regular emails are protected by his or her chosen email service and our stated Terms & Policy. They are kept on the server till a case is closed or till the client’s instruction that they be removed. At no time will clients’ details be shared with any 3rd party or any other company that uses the service. The doctor will maintain the usual client dockets appropriate to all practices except for clients using nicknames.
We request personal information for the purposes of maintaining the usual doctor/client relationship. The only circumstance where confidentiality may be broken is where it has been indicated that there is a risk of harm to the client or someone else. OnlineCounsellingJamaica is then required by ethics to seek advice and guidance from other professionals. OnlineCounsellingJamaica would, of course, try to discuss this beforehand with the client to obtain consent.
All payments are made via PayPal. We will never send you an email requesting your credit card details.
Like most websites, OnlineCounsellingJamaica places a “cookie” on our visitor’s computer. We use this ‘Google Analytics’ cookie to track website usage and to generate statistical information. We do not exchange cookies with other 3rd party organisations. You are at liberty remove ‘cookies’ from your computer.
